Title: Searching for Memories 2: Alex Returns

Rating: I guess on here, it would be K+

Couples-SV, Spyfam

Warning-Will mention Irina's death in this fanfic.

Time-3 months after the first one.

Place-Miami, Florida.

Mission-Sydney and Vaughn are sent to listen in on a meeting inside a warehouse not far from Miami Pier. The meeting is with Julian Sark, who is representing the Covenant.

Sydney Bristow sighed, as she listened to the meeting through her headphones. "Why did we get picked for this op anyway? This is more like Weiss and Marshall's type of thing."

Vaughn glanced at her. "It was Dixon's call, but word is that he's stepping down as Director."

"I wonder who's replacing him." She commented to him. She glanced out her window and couldn't help saying, "What the hell?"

Vaughn looked at her. "What is it, Syd?" He asked. He glanced out his own window and saw who Sydney was looking at. "Isn't that -?"

"Sure looks like it." Sydney answered. Then, she called into her comm., "Base Ops, this is Mountaineer. I need to speak with Jack Bristow ASAP. This concerns the current op Agent Vaughn and I are on."

Monitoring communications, Marshall Flinkman responded, "Copy that, Mountaineer. I'll get Watchtower now." He quickly took off his headset comm. and made the phone call. As soon as he got off the phone with him, he put his headset back on. "Mountaineer, he's on his way here now. He said to give him ten minutes."

"Copy that, Marshall." Sydney said. She wondered if she should go talk to her. She glanced at Vaughn and he nodded. She climbed out of the back of the van and she walked over to the familiar woman.

Standing by the pier was none other than Alexandra Bristow. She sighed, when she saw Sydney walking over to her. She knew then that it was time to let Sydney know the truth about her past and present.

Chapter 1-Bad Training Session

“You can do it, Kiara.” Her father, Obi-Wan said supportively to her. He was watching, as she performed a light saber exercise. “Let the force flow through you.”

She nodded, as she tried again. After a few minutes, the silver sphere managed to zap her in the butt again and she sighed frustratingly. She deactivated her saber and sat down with a sad expression in her eyes.

He came over to her and he sat down next to her. “You’ll get it, Ki. I know you will.” He said, looping an arm around her.

“You must think I’m letting you down by not getting this exercise.” She said, gloomily. She looked up at him and saw him shake his head.

“Not at all, Honey.” He said, and he hugged her. “I think that’s enough for awhile. You go rest. It’s your brother’s turn.”

She smiled sadly, as she stood up and went inside their little hut. She didn’t even notice Kieran pass by her, as he headed outside for his training session. Unlike Kiara, he disliked his training. This was mostly because he would rather be hanging out with his friends. "Mess up again, Kiara?" He teased, as she went inside.

She shot her father a hurt look in response. She went inside and to her room. She laid down and stared up at the ceiling of her bedroom.

"Kieran, that wasn't necessary for you to tease your sister like that. She's really upset." Obi-Wan said, with a sigh.

"I'm sorry, Dad. I didn't mean anything by it." Kieran said, and he bowed his head in shame. "Would it be okay if I went to apologize to her?"

He nodded, and Kieran went inside to Kiara's bedroom. He could hear soft crying coming from inside. Knocking, he said, "Ki, are you okay? I'm sorry for teasing you before."

She didn't answer him, so he went inside her room. He found her still lying on her bed. She was facing toward the wall. Her back was facing him. "Come to make fun of my training blunders even more?" She asked, sarcastically. She didn't bother to turn around. Sighing, she said, "Just leave me alone, Kieran."

He sighed and walked out of the room. He rejoined Obi-Wan outside and he worked on his Jedi training.

Obi-Wan was getting worried about his daughter. This wasn't like her to be so upset over one bad training session. He had the feeling it was something else that she was really upset about. Something else entirely...

Chapter 1-Meeting With Master Windu

Kayla stared at the framed picture of her father, as she sat on her bed and sighed sadly. She set the picture down, when she heard Master Obi-Wan Kenobi calling out for her. “Coming, Master!” She called back, as she stood up. Wiping away a few stray tears, she headed out of her room and met Obi-Wan in the hall.

He glanced up from a letter he had been reading. “Are you all right, Kayla? You look like you’ve been crying.” He said as soon as he saw the expression on her face. He sounded concerned.

“I’m fine, Master. I was just thinking about my father and it made me sad.” She faked a small smile to prove she was all right.

He just nodded and said, “I know you miss him. I miss Master Qui-Gon too. It’s normal to miss those that have died. Especially when they are those that are close to us.” He shot her a sympathetic smile.

“Thank you, Master.” Kayla said. Then, she asked, “Was there something you needed?”

“We’ve been ordered by the Council to go to the outer rim of Naboo to handle a trade dispute. They are well aware that you haven’t been there since your father was killed. They are also aware that he was killed there too, but our presence is desperately needed.” Obi-Wan said.

“I understand, Master.” Kayla said and sighed. “How soon do we leave?” She looked away, as Master Mace Windu walked past them. She nodded a greeting and managed a slight smile.

He looked at them and asked, “I should of told you before, but the two of you will have to take Anakin with you too.”

Kayla and Obi-Wan nodded in agreement, as Master Windu started to walk away. He got as far as a few feet away, when he remembered something. He turned around and added, “The three of you will leave within the hour.”

Kayla nodded at the same time as Obi-Wan said, “Yes, Master.”

Then, Master Windu walked away from them. He headed toward the temple to talk to Master Yoda.

Kayla and Obi-Wan went to find Anakin. They stopped just outside of his room and Obi-Wan knocked on the door. He could hear soft crying coming from inside the young boy’s room, so he left Kayla in the hallway, while he went inside to check on Anakin.

Anakin was sitting on his bed. His back was toward the doorway and his shoulders were shaking, as he wept.

Obi-Wan went over to him and he held the young boy. He spoke soft words of sympathy and support as he did. He knew that not only did Anakin miss Qui-Gon. He was also crying because he misses his mother too.

After Anakin calmed down, he shot an embarrassed smile toward Obi-Wan. He was given a smile in return.

“It’s all right, Anakin. No need to apologize.” Obi-Wan said reassuringly. Remembering Kayla was still in the hallway, he called out to her.

She walked into the room and approached them both. “Is he all right, Master?” She asked, worriedly.

After reaching for a tissue and blowing his nose in it, Anakin nodded and Kayla smiled sympathetically. “I miss my father too, Ani. It’s okay.” She walked over to him and gave him a hug.

“Thanks, Kayla.” Anakin said to her, as he stood up. “What’s going on? Did we get an assignment from the Council?”

Obi-Wan filled him in on their assignment. He was proud of Kayla for being so supportive of Anakin. He was well aware that she knew how rough it has been on the boy ever since Qui-Gon Jinn was killed. He stood up and said, “we should get going.”

Both Anakin and Kayla responded by saying, “yes, Master.” Then, they followed him out of the room and toward their transport. All three were carrying light sabers in their belt loops and a serious expression on their faces.

What neither Kayla or Obi-Wan knew was that Anakin was also hiding a different emotion back from them. This was jealousy. He felt that if Obi-Wan had never of found Kayla in that prison and rescued her, he would be his Master’s only apprentice. He also wouldn’t have to share him with Kayla.

Anakin was quiet the entire trip to Naboo. He read a book he had brought with him. He didn’t seem to notice that Kayla glanced over at him a few times to make sure he was all right.

Chapter 2-Arrival On Naboo

After awhile, Kayla fell asleep, but it wasn’t a peaceful sleep. After an hour, she woke up shaking from fear. She was terrified. She let out a shaky sigh, as she quickly glanced over at Obi-Wan.

Sensing that something was wrong, he hurried back to his seat, which was right next to Kayla’s. He sat down and he pulled his young Padawan into his arms for a hug to try and calm her down. After sobbing for several minutes, she gradually fell asleep.

Several hours later, they reached Naboo. Anakin stood up and he walked over to where Obi-Wan was gently shaking Kayla awake. She groaned, as she slowly opened her deep green eyes and she looked at Obi-Wan. Realizing her cheeks were still wet from crying a second time, she wiped her tears away and shot him an apologetic smile.

“We’ve arrived on Naboo, Master.” Anakin reported to them. He quickly glanced in Kayla’s direction. “Are you all right?” He sounded a little concerned about her.

“I’ll be fine, Ani. Thank you.” She said to him. “We better go.” She glanced at Obi-Wan and he nodded in agreement. He stood up and with his Padawans following, he headed out and toward the Queen’s castle.

About halfway to the castle, the three had to go over a quiet part of town. There was no one out walking and the windows were covered up with white cloth.

“That’s strange. I was under the impression they knew we were coming.” Obi-Wan said.

Master, someone or something is watching us. I’m sensing a disturbance in the force.” Kayla reported to him. She tried desperately to remain calm, as she scoped the area.

“I sense it too, Master.” Anakin agreed.

“Stay alert.” Obi-Wan told them. Sighing, he said, “I sense it too.”

Chapter 3-Dangers At Every Turn

As they continued to walk, the three of them were quiet. None of them noticed when a strange man walked over to them. He approached Kayla, offering a flower to her. “For the lady of your group, Master Jedi.” He said. Then, he walked away quickly.

Kayla sighed. “That was weird.” She said. She cradled the flower in her hand, until she pricked her thumb on a thorn from the flower. “Ouch!” She immediately started to feel lightheaded and she dropped to her knees.

Anakin knelt down next to her, as Obi-Wan stomped on the flower with his boot. Then he knelt down on Kayla’s other side. He looked genuinely concerned. “Kayla, are you all right?” He asked.

She couldn’t answer. She collapsed into his arms.

“We need to find shelter fast.” Obi-Wan said, as he scanned the area around them. It was then that he spotted the Queen’s castle not far from them. “There!”

Nodding in agreement, Anakin said, “Let’s go!”

Obi-Wan carried the young girl to the Queen’s castle and they went inside. Sighing, he laid Kayla down and he knelt down next to her, as one of the Queen’s bodyguards came rushing over to them.

“What happened?” The bodyguard asked, as he knelt down next to them. “Who is she?”

Brushing a hair out of Kayla’s eyes, Anakin said, “Kayla Trono. She’s Master Kenobi’s other Padawan Learner.” Glancing at Obi-Wan, they both noticed the sadness in each other’s eyes.

“It was a blue and pink flower. We need to know if there is some kind of antidote.” Obi-Wan said. He looked up at the Bodyguard.

The Bodyguard looked very serious, as he said, “There is no known cure. The flower you spoke of can only be found up in the mountains. Our scientists have never done tests on those flowers, so we don’t know much about them.”

“Is their anyone who might? The flower was given to her by a guy in a red robe.” Anakin said.

The Bodyguard’s eyes looked at him in shock. “Red robe? The guy was a Sith in disguise.”

Obi-Wan and Anakin both looked stunned. “The wrong person knows we’re here then. It must have been a poison posy.” Obi-Wan said and sighed frustrated.

Anakin nodded in agreement. “We need to know more about them and get an antidote. Master, we can’t lose Kayla.”

“We won’t, my Padawan.” Obi-Wan said, reassuringly. He placed a calming hand on Anakin’s shoulder.

Chapter 4-Kayla’s Nightmare

Kayla moaned, as she dreamt. “Dad.” She softly cried in her sleep. Her eyelashes fluttered as her dream got even more intense……

She was running from house to house looking for her father. She could sense that he was in one of them and that he was in pain. “Dad!” She screamed, as she continued to look. She came to one final house. It wasn’t locked, so she turned the handle on the door. Her eyes opened wide, as she began to walk inside. “Dad?” She said, again as she looked around. “Where are you?”

Kayla, find me!” Ren’s voice called out. “Please, Baby!” His voice was full of desperation and pain.

Daddy!” She screamed. She walked up the staircase to the second floor and she opened door after door. Someone prevented her from opening the last door. She could hear her father’s voice on the other side of it. “Dad, open the door!”

It’s not real, Kayla.” It was now Obi-Wan’s voice that she was hearing. “Your father isn’t here.”

How do I turn this dream around, Master?” She asked him.

By focusing on the moment. Don’t lose yourself in the dream.” He said to her.

She nodded sleepily, as she began to awaken. She knew before she had woken up, that he was sitting next to her. “Master?”

“It’s all right. I’m here, Kayla.” Obi-Wan said, trying to calm her. He had come to check on her. She was now laying down on a cot, in what looked like a medical facility.

“I thought I heard my father in the dream. It sounded just like him.” She said. She sounded scared, yet tired.

He sighed, as he placed his hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her. “Dreams are like that, my Padawan. They tend to fool you into thinking that your hearing those that you have lost.” His voice was soft and reassuring.

“I heard you too.” She said.

“All I did was bring you out of your dream.” He explained. “Why don’t you get some rest? Anakin went to help them find an antidote.”

“Yes, Master.” She said. She closed her eyes, as she allowed herself to relax enough to go back to sleep. She mumbled to herself, as she drifted off to sleep.

He sat with her for the next few hours, as she slept. He was incredibly worried about her. He hoped Anakin would return soon with the antidote. He let out a tired and sad sigh, as he glanced at Kayla. He was relieved that she was now in a peaceful slumber. He just hoped it would remain that way for awhile.

Chapter 5-Finding The Antidote

Anakin worked quickly in the lab. He hoped it wouldn’t be too long before the antidote was developed. He was beginning to feel bad for the thoughts he had about Kayla. He watched, as one of the scientists examined one of the flowers under a microscope and he sighed. “Anything that I can do to help?” He asked.

The scientist glanced up at him and nodded. “We need another flower like this one. It’s so we can make enough to help your friend.” He sighed, as he glanced in Anakin’s direction. “If we don’t get this made in time, she may die before the hour is up.”

“Then, I better hurry. Let Master Kenobi know where I went. I’ll be back as soon as I can-with the flower.” Anakin said, as he rushed over to the doorway. Make sure the rest of the antidote ingredients are ready, by the time I get back.” Then, he rushed out the door and he headed for the mountains.

He searched for the next forty-five minutes, before he found the flower. Unfortunately, it would take him twenty minutes to get back. He knew he was cutting the time close, but after the way he had behaved towards Kayla, he felt he owed it to her. He quickly headed back to the lab and the antidote was quickly made.

He rushed into the facility, with the doctor close behind him. “Master, we have the antidote.” He said, as he rushed to Kayla’s bedside. He took her hand in his own, as the antidote was injected into her arm.

She groaned softly in pain, as she opened her eyes slightly. She looked directly at Anakin and said, “Thank you.”

He smiled lightly at her. “Your welcome. Just be careful the next time a nice guy offers you a flower, okay?” He joked.

“Don’t worry, Ani.” She said, calling him by his childhood nickname. “From now on, the only flowers I will accept, will be from you or Master Obi-Wan.” She let herself relax, as she drifted back to sleep.

“Will she be all right?” Obi-Wan asked the doctor. They moved away from the two children, so they could speak privately. Obi-Wan still seemed concerned.

The doctor still seemed concerned. “We won’t know if the antidote will work for another hour. She’s still very weak. Does she have any living parents?”

“No. She lives with me at the Jedi Temple. She became my legal ward shortly after her father was killed here on Naboo. That was a few months ago.” Obi-Wan explained to the doctor.

“So, your actually her foster parent, so to speak?” He asked. He wasn’t too surprised, when he received a nod in response. “Very well. I’ll keep you informed of her condition, Master Kenobi.” Then he walked away and left. He headed back to the lab.

Obi-Wan returned to Kayla’s beside.

Chapter 6-Visit From Padme

Anakin was staring out a window on the opposite side of the room, so he didn’t see a beautiful young woman walk in. She walked directly over to Kayla’s cot and she gently touched Obi-Wan’s shoulder. “Obi-Wan?” She said, softly.

He smiled, when he looked up at her. “Hello.” He yawned tiredly.

“I heard about Kayla. Is their anything I can do?” She asked.

He shook his head. “I wish there was. I’m afraid its all up to Kayla now.” He sounded sad, as he spoke. “I just hope she doesn’t give up.”

Padme sat down and the two old friends chatted softly for awhile. He spoke of how proud he was of both Kayla and Anakin. He also spoke of how this was affecting him. After awhile, she stood up and left.

Obi-Wan sat there thinking about what him and Padme had discussed. He looked over and noticed that Kayla was beginning to wake up again. “Kayla?” He said, as he leaned forward a little.

Hearing his voice, she opened her eyes and looked up at him. “Master.” She said, and smiled slightly. “Anakin?”

Hearing Kayla say his name, Anakin hurried over to her. “I’m here, Kayla. How are you feeling?” He asked, giving Obi-Wan a worried glance.

She groaned and said, “not as tired as I was before.” She sighed. “How long am I going to have to remain lying down? I’d like to sit up.”

They helped her to, just as the doctor came in. He examined her and they were all pleased to hear that she would be fine. He left and they chatted happily for the next few hours. By now, Anakin had overcome his jealousy of Kayla and the two were getting along once again.

Sydney Bristow sighed as she entered through the front door at work. She slowly walked toward the elevator and she pushed the button to go up to her office floor. She sighed as she tried to stop her head from spinning. As soon as the elevator beeped and the door opened, Sydney stepped out of it and she walked to her desk.

“Syd, you okay? You look terrible.” Her coworker and friend, Eric Weiss said to her, as soon as he saw her. He looked worried. He stood next to her desk.

“I’m fine, Eric.” She snapped at him and she went to the bathroom to splash some cold water on her face.

He shrugged and went to his own desk to do some paperwork.

Later at the morning briefing, Sydney came in just as her friend and boss, Marcus Dixon began the briefing.

He asked if anyone had anything else to add, but no one did. Just as he was about to dismiss them, Sydney spoke up. “Has there been any word on locating Sark? I mean, the last we heard, he went back to working with my mother.”

“Yes.” Jack Bristow answered. “According to our latest Intel, Irina has been seen several times with Sark, but we’ve had no luck apprehending either of them.” He sighed. “We’ll keep looking for her.”

Sydney nodded, but didn’t answer. She groaned softly.

Michael Vaughn looked over at her. “Are you all right, Syd?”

“Not really, Vaughn.” She answered, as she stood up. She glanced over at Dixon. “Would it be all right if I went home? I’m really not feeling well.”

“Of course you can, Syd.” Dixon said and he glanced at Jack. “Could you take her home? I need Weiss and Vaughn here.” He stood up and began getting his papers in order, so he could leave the room.

Jack nodded as he stood up. He walked over to Sydney and he led her out of the room and down the elevator. As soon as they got to his car, she passed out. He got her into the car and he drove her to his own house. Then, he called Dixon to inform him that he wouldn’t be coming back to work that day. He would be taking a few days off to care for his sick daughter.
Meanwhile back at the Rotunda, Weiss was standing around waiting for his contact to call. He was chatting with his coworker and friend, Kimberly McKendrick, when his cell phone rang. "Hello?" He said, when he answered the call.

"Agent Weiss, it’s good to hear your voice." A familiar female voice said happily. "I hope you haven't forgotten me already."

Weiss glanced at Kimberly and he motioned to her to have this call traced. To the woman, he said, "I remember you, Ms. Derevko."

"Oh come on now, Agent. You can feel free to call me Irina. I mean, you are one of my daughter's best friends." She laughed, as she hung up the phone.

"Damn it." Weiss said as he hung up. "Did you get anything?"

Kimberly shook her head and sighed. "I'm sorry, Eric."

"It's okay. We'll get her." He said reassuringly. Then he walked to Dixon's office door to report the call. He knocked on the door, but he didn't get an answer. He walked back to his desk, just as the phone rang again. He sighed as he answered it. "Weiss?"

It was Vaughn. "It's me, Weiss. We just picked up Irina. We're on our way back now." He sounded worried.

"All right, Vaughn. I'll call Jack and let him know." Weiss said to him. He hung up and called Jack at his house.

Sydney was asleep in her bedroom at Jack's house, when the phone rang.

Jack walked downstairs after he had just checked on Sydney. He walked over to the phone and he answered the call. "Hello?"

"Jack, its Weiss. Vaughn just took Irina into custody."

Jack sighed. "All right, Weiss. I'm on my way." He hung up the phone and he looked up the stairs at Sydney's closed bedroom door. He stayed there for just a few seconds before grabbing his jacket. He walked over to his desk long enough to scribble a note for Sydney to let her know where he was going. Then, he walked out the door and he left.

A few hours later, Jack was standing right outside Irina's locked cell. He glared at her. "What did you think you were trying to pull coming back here? You knew they would be coming after you."

Irina didn't answer him. As a matter of fact, she didn't even look at him. She was sitting on the floor inside her locked cell meditating and ignoring Jack.

Annoyed by the way she was acting, he left without saying another word. He headed back to his house a few minutes later.

It wasn't very long before Vaughn and Weiss heard what had happened, when Jack tried to talk to Irina.

Meanwhile at Jack's house, Sydney woke up just as Jack got home. He walked up the stairs and into her room to check on her. "How are you feeling, Sweetheart? You look a little better."

She managed a small smile. "A little better. What's going on at work?"

"Don't you worry about work. You just get some rest and get yourself well." He noticed she was trying to sit up in bed, so he rearranged the pillows behind her.

"Thanks, Dad." She said. She noticed the strange look on Jack's face, so she asked, "What's wrong?"

He sighed. "Your mother's been arrested and she's being held at the JTF building downtown."

Sydney looked surprised. "Well, we knew it would just be a matter of time before she was caught. Who made the arrest?"

"Vaughn did." He answered. He noticed the pained look on her face and he sat down on the edge of her bed.

She sighed.

"What's going to happen to Mom now?" Sydney asked, worriedly. She looked down at her blanket, not wanting him to see how upset she was getting.

Jack sighed, as he put his arm around his daughter. "I don't really know, Sweetheart."

She let her head fall onto his shoulder for a few minutes. "I wish I could go see her."

"What you need to do is get well. Let me worry about your mother." He smiled and added, "Okay?"

"Okay, Dad." Sydney said and she hugged him. She laid down and started to fall back to sleep.

Jack went downstairs to make her something to eat. As he was cooking, the phone rang. He groaned and he walked over to answer it. "Hello?"

"Hey, Jack." It was Vaughn. "How's Sydney doing?"

"She's resting right now, Vaughn. Is there something going on you need to inform me about?" Jack asked. There was some anger in his voice.

"Actually, yes. Irina escaped. Weiss just called me. I'm not at the Rotunda right now. I was wondering if I could stop by later and see Syd." Vaughn said.

Jack sighed and agreed. "It'll have to be after dinner though. Sydney will probably sleep most of the day and I don't want her disturbed. She needs her rest."

"I understand. Thanks, Jack." Vaughn said and he hung up.

Jack groaned and hung up too. He went back to the kitchen and finished cooking.

Meanwhile at the Rotunda, an all out hunt was going on for Irina. Marshall was ordered to stay in his office, so he would stay safe.

A few hours had passed and Irina had still not been caught. It was getting frustrating for everyone. They were so busy searching that no one noticed Irina carefully hiding explosives carefully around the Rotunda, as she was leaving. She walked out the door just before the explosives went off. Everyone scrambled for cover, as more explosives went office.

All anyone could hear was Dixon calling out orders, but no one was listening right then. He was very angry too. This was mostly because no one had fought Irina before she got away.

Weiss and Vaughn had their hands full tending to those that had been injured. They were glad to see that no one had been killed.

Dixon ordered Marshall to call Jack and have him come in to help.

Jack had just taken Sydney some lunch, when he heard the phone ring. He answered it. "Hello?" He said.

"Agent Bristow? It's me, Marshall. Director Dixon needs you to come in."

Jack sighed and asked, "What' happened?"

Marshall hesitated before saying, "its Derevko. She's escaped." He paused before telling him what Irina had done.

"Tell Dixon I'll be there in half an hour." Jack said. Then he hung up. He had no intention of telling Sydney what had happened. Their was nothing she could do right now anyway. After leaving a note for Sydney, he left.

Marshall went to let Dixon know that Jack was on his way.

Meanwhile, Irina managed to hide inside a cheap hotel room. She felt bad about how sick Sydney was, but she felt it was necessary to keep her out of the way. She hoped that no one would figure out that it was her who had poisoned her. She would reveal what she had done to her daughter in due time. She stayed in the hotel room for the rest of the night.

Jack got to the Rotunda awhile later. He quickly found Dixon, who looked worried. All he said to Jack was, "We need to find Derevko fast." Then, he walked away from him.

Jack spotted Vaughn and Weiss and he walked over to them.

Vaughn looked at him and asked, "How's Sydney?" He looked worried.

Jack sighed worriedly. "Still the same. If she doesn't improve soon, I'm taking her to the hospital. She's barely eating anything."

Vaughn was starting to get worried now. "I won't be able to stop by later after all. Weiss and I are part of the task force that is searching for Derevko."

Meanwhile, Sydney began having trouble breathing. She struggled on the bed and was barely able to get to the phone. It was a good thing she had 911 on her phone memory, because she was forced to use it. She was barely able to force out "Help, " before she finally passed out.

The ambulance driver just happened to be an analyst for the CIA, so as soon as they got Sydney loaded into the ambulance, he called and informed Dixon and Jack. He stated Sydney's condition as serious.

Both Jack and Dixon headed to the hospital. They were now even more worried than before. They sat in the waiting room for a long wait.

The doctors were busy trying to get Sydney stabilized. The ambulance got there just a few minutes before. Awhile later, the doctor came over to Jack. He looked concerned.

By the time the doctor walked away, Jack's usual expressionless face was now masked with both worry and anger. He noticed that Dixon was looking at him and he said, "They just got the blood work results back from the lab. Sydney's been poisoned." He went on to tell him that he believes that it was Irina who poisoned Sydney. He also said that he was going to prove it too. Then, he left the hospital. He was going to find Irina himself.

After several hours, Jack managed to track Irina down. He found her inside an abandoned warehouse. She was asleep in a corner. He roughly picked her up by the collar of her shirt and he yelled, "What did you do to my daughter? Huh?" He was having trouble containing his anger at this point. He glared at her.

She quickly opened her eyes and looked at him. "I poisoned her, Jack." She didn't seem the slightest bit threatened or frightened. "She should be fine in about 24 hours, as long as you have the right antidote."

"What kind of poison is it, Irina?" Jack asked her. He was trying to calm down, hoping it would help get Irina to talk more if he did.

"It's a weak form of cyanide." Irina said to him. She was starting to get worried. "How is she?"

"Barely alive thanks to you." Jack snapped at her. "Now where can I find the antidote for this kind of poison?" He continued to glare at her angrily.

Irina sighed. "The only place it can be found is in a hospital in Rome. You'll have to take her there as soon as possible."

"Correction-we will have to take her there." Jack shot back at her. "We'll be leaving for there at nine." He shot her another glare as he added, "This damn well better not be some kind of trick either, Irina. You’re already in CIA custody. If Sydney dies, then so do you." Jack took Irina out of the warehouse and he drove her back to the JTF.

Dixon met them at the entrance and Jack explained what had happened. He also requested that Irina accompany him on the mission to get the antidote.

Dixon agreed and he made the arrangements for the mission. He was still very worried about Sydney.

Later that night, Jack temporarily removed Sydney from the hospital. He drove them both to the airport, where they would meet the plane and a few escort agents. They had Irina with them.

After everyone was aboard, the plane took off. It would be taking several hours before they would be in Rome.

Jack had Sydney sitting in the chair next to him. Her chair was reclined back so she could sleep, but she wasn't. He glanced worriedly at her. "You really should get some rest."

"I'll be fine, Dad." Sydney said. She kept glaring at her mother, who was handcuffed to a seat a few rows away from them. And to Irina, she asked, "Why did you do this to me, Mom?"

Irina sighed. "I had to keep you out of the way. While you were on your last mission to Spain, I happened to be there too. At one point, you stood in front of a dark-haired man. While you were talking to him, I slipped the poison into your drink." She explained.

Sydney looked shocked. "That was you I bumped into as I was leaving, wasn't it?" Tears were rolling down her cheeks.

Irina nodded looking uncomfortable.

Jack slipped his arm around his daughter and he held her as she cried softly.

They were quiet the rest of the flight.
The entire plane ride lasted several hours and by the time it landed, Sydney was sound asleep. Her breathing was a little bit uneven, so Jack knew they had better get moving quickly.

The three of them exited the plane and went over to the waiting rental car. Jack made sure Sydney was settled comfortably in the back seat and he pushed Irina in the front passenger seat. He climbed in next to her and he started the car. He shot Irina a nasty look, as he sped away.

She had a pained look on her face and had to quickly look away from him. It bothered her that he was so angry with her. She glanced over at Sydney to check on her, but Sydney didn't even glance in her direction.

As soon as they reached Irina's hideout, Irina ran inside and got the antidote. When she came out, she shot Jack a worried look. She opened the back door and was about to inject the antidote into Sydney, when Jack stopped her.

He took the antidote from her and he injected it into Sydney himself. He didn't trust Irina to do it. Glancing in Irina's direction, he asked, "how long does it take for the antidote to work?"

"She should begin feeling better within the hour." Irina answered.

"Good." He said and they got back into the car. Jack drove back to the airport and they rebounded the plane. They settled once again in their seats and the plane took off. They were once again headed back to Los Angeles.

Time: 8:45 am
Place: Enroute to Los Angeles

Irina had fallen asleep in her seat, which was across the aisle from Jack and Sydney. She wasn't sound asleep though. She kept opening her eyes every once in awhile to look over at Sydney to see how she was doing.

Sydney was asleep next to Jack. She moaned in her sleep and acted as if she were in pain.

He shot her a worried look and sighed.

The plane landed a few hours later and Sydney was rushed back to the hospital. Soon after the plane landed, Sydney's fever spiked. This worried Jack even more as he drove her to the hospital.

The pilot was actually an off-duty CIA Agent, so he called Weiss and had Irina taken back into custody.

Weiss didn't waste any time in getting to the airport to pick her up. He was still pretty angry, now that Irina's secret was out.

Vaughn met them at the hospital. He was happier, when he found out that they managed to reduce Sydney's fever. The antidote was finally beginning to work.

Sydney was kept in the hospital for several more days, but she refused to go visit her mother in her cell. She has spent every day with Vaughn and Jack has come to visit her each and every day too.

Searching for Memories

Disclaimer-I have no connection to JJ Abrams or anyone else connected with Alias. Sorry. I'm just a huge fan. This fanfic was coauthored with my best friend. Thanks for letting me use your character, Alex!

Rating-PG Mostly because of some light swearing.

Author's Note-This takes place right after the third season episode titled, "Breaking Point." It’s my own take on what could have happened. I apologize if the title sucks. I really didn't have a decent title for it, so I'm just calling it that, until I think of one.

Pairings- Not sure yet. Just read and you'll find out.

Sydney sighed in her sleep as she slept in the helicopter. She was glad that her father had been the one to organize her rescue from the prison he was being held in.

Jack Bristow sat there, watching Sydney sleep for the first time since she was arrested. He could tell that she hadn't gotten any in jail. This had worried him, because Sydney has already been through quite a lot already.

Arvin Sloane glanced back at Jack and he asked, "She all right?"

"She's fine, Arvin. She's still asleep." Jack said. He kissed the top of her head, trying not to wake her. He noticed she was crying in her sleep, so he slipped his arm around her. "Shhhh. It’s okay."

She put her head on his shoulder, as she started to open her eyes sleepily. She looked a little embarrassed, as she wiped away her tears. "I was having a nightmare." She said to them.

"Its ok, Syd. It’s understandable." Michael Vaughn said, as he glanced at his wife, Lauren Reed. That was when he noticed that she was staring out the window. "Honey, you okay?" He asked her, softly.

"Yeah." She said. She glanced at Sydney and asked, "Are you all right, Sydney?" She sounded genuinely worried.

Sydney gave her a tired smile. "Yeah, I'm just tired." She reclosed her eyes and she went back to sleep.

The helicopter landed twenty minutes later and they got out of it. Jack and Arvin had found a safe place for them to hideout at, til they could plan their next move. Jack carried Sydney out of the helicopter and into one of the buildings. He laid her down on one of the cots and he covered her with the blanket that was on the cot. Then, he laid down and he went to sleep.

The others also came in and lay down. They went to sleep right away.

Sydney was able to sleep through the night, knowing she was now safe with them.

The next morning, the others woke up one by one and went over to the next building over to talk without disturbing Sydney, who was still asleep. They ate a quick breakfast, as they discussed what to do next.

Vaughn spoke up and suggested, "What about regression therapy? It might actually help bring her memories to the surface." The others glanced at him.

"That's actually a good idea." Jack said. Then, he turned toward Arvin. "Can You reach that friend of yours, who specializes in that type of therapy?"

Arvin nodded. He went outside to make the call.

Sydney groaned, as she got awake. She slowly opened her eyes and she looked around. "Dad?" She said, as she got up off of her cot. She could hear voices coming from the next building over, so she went to see who it was. She left the building she was in and she went to the next one over. She found them sitting at a table, looking through maps and chatting.

They turned around, when Sydney closed the door. "What's going on?" She asked them.

Jack stood up and he walked over to her. Their was a slight smile on his face. He was relieved to see she was all right. He put a comforting hand on her shoulder and he said, "Sweetheart, your okay." Then, he smiled at her.

She grinned back at him. She let him lead her over to a vacant seat and she sat down.

Jack was quick to say, "You should know that Sloane was instrumental in your escape." He stood protectively next to Sydney's chair.

She looked at Arvin and said, "thank you. All of you. Breaking me out of there was both dangerous and selfless. Thank you." She sighed.

Vaughn looked at her and said. Your welcome, Syd."

The others responded the same way.

Arvin spoke up then. "Sydney, I just spoke to a friend of mine who specializes in regression therapy. He feels that he might be able to help you bring some of your memories from your missing time to the surface."

Sydney nodded in agreement. "When do I go see him?" She asked.

"I told him it would be another day or two before you would be coming." He said to her.

"Why? We need these answers now." Sydney asked. She automatically looked at her dad.

"I thought you needed the extra rest before you went. It’s just for a couple of days, Sydney." Jack said, as Sydney stood up.

"Dad, I'm okay." She sighed clearly frustrated. "I want this all over with, so I can get on with my life."

He nodded and he turned toward Arvin. "Move up the appointment." He said to him.

Arvin nodded, as Sydney walked outside to get some air.

Jack stood there and sighed.

Lauren, who had been quiet up until now, went outside too.

Vaughn stood there with a surprised look on his face.

"Sydney, are you all right?" Lauren asked her, as she walked over to her. She sounded concerned.

"Yes. I guess I just needed some fresh air." She sighed and added. "I cannot believe my dad worked with Sloane just to break me out of there. Its-its mind blowing." She stood there with her arms folded, as she spoke. "I was glad to see you helping to get me out of there. Thank you, Lauren."

"Your welcome, Sydney. I really do hope we can become friends, when this is all over." Lauren said to her.

Sydney smiled at her. "I'd like that."

"So would I." Lauren said. She grinned back at her.

"We have to move out of here!!" Jack shouted, as he came out of the building. He began to run over to them, just as a helicopter appeared overhead. The passenger began shooting at them. "Take cover!!"

Both Sydney and Lauren did. They both pulled their guns out and they began shooting back.

After a few minutes, Vaughn shouted. "Lauren! Sydney! Come on! We have to go! The chopper is ready to go!!"

Sydney and Lauren ran toward the chopper, but half way there, Lauren tripped and fell. Sydney turned around and ran back to her. She helped her to her feet and they made it to the chopper.

Jack was just on his way over to the chopper. As soon as he climbed aboard, the chopper took off.

Vaughn glanced at Sydney and said, "Thanks." He smiled at her.

She grinned back. Then, she asked, "Lauren, you okay?"

"Yes." She answered. "Thank you, Sydney."

Arvin turned around and asked, "How the hell did they know where we were? I never said a word to anyone." He was very angry.

Jack sighed and said, "I have no idea. I do think we need to find out though." He turned to Sydney and said, "Arvin was able to move your appointment up to later on this afternoon. I'll be going with you, of course."

"All right. Thanks, Dad." She said. She let out a soft yawn, hoping no one noticed.

"I'll look into the breech, as soon as I get back. I'm going to tell Lindsey that I was being held by the Covenant and they are still holding you hostage." Lauren told Sydney.

"All right. Keep us posted." Sydney said.

They dropped Lauren and Arvin off at a secluded location and Arvin rented an unmarked van. To make Lauren's story believable, Lauren let Arvin toss her out of the van while it was still moving. He made sure she was all right before he sped away.

Jack found a secure location for them to hide out at and he made Sydney lay down for awhile. He could tell she was still tired.

Meanwhile back at the Rotunda, Robert Lindsey was running a manhunt for Sydney. He was still convinced she had actually escaped from custody. He was angry that she had too. He kept barking orders for his men to find her-fast. He was later approached by Marshall, who begged him to find her and bring her back safely. Lindsey tried to hide his disgust, as he made the promise. He also tried to hide the fact that he was lying about bringing her back safely. He would rather her die instead.

A few hours later, Sydney, Jack, and Vaughn headed out to meet the doctor Sydney had the appointment with. She was very nervous about meeting with him, but she willing to give the therapy a try since Jack was going to be there with her.

Jack could tell Sydney was nervous, so he said, "Sydney, relax. This just might work." He tried to sound reassuring.

"Dad, this guy is an associate of Sloane's. I don't trust that man and I can't believe you don't either. We've been through too much because of him." Sydney said, looking at him.

"When it gets down to it, I'm not sure what I feel toward him. The man did jump in front of a bullet to save my life though, so I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt." Jack said optimistically. "Let's give this a chance."

"All right." She said, as they pulled into the parking lot of the doctor's office. She sighed, as they got out of the car.

The three of them walked up to the door and Sydney knocked on it. They exchanged curious looks, when no one answered the door right away.

Brezzel's assistant, Kaya, answered the door. She was dressed in just an oversized blue button-down shirt and her hair was slightly messy. She took one look at Jack and said, "Wow."

"We have an appointment with Dr. Brezzel." Jack said to her.

"Doctor! Doctor, there are some beautiful people here!" Kaya called to the doctor. She let them inside, just as he came over and introduced himself.

He led them over to his make-shift living room and they all sat down. He turned to Sydney and asked, "Have you ever done anything like this before?"

"Yes. It was a long time ago." Sydney said to him. She glanced nervously at Jack, who was sitting next to her.

He motioned for her to relax. He could see how nervous she was.

She got the message and did as well as she could. She focused on Brezzel and what he was saying. She was caught a little off guard, when he stood up and said, "Let’s get this party started."

Vaughn and Jack exchanged worried looks, but said nothing in response. They followed Sydney, Brezzel, and Kaya into another room.

As soon as Sydney walked into the room, she gasped in surprise. She shot a scared look toward Vaughn, but she immediately recovered and she sat down in the chair she was directed to.

Brezzel looked at both Vaughn and Jack. "I need one of you to sit next to her, just in case she uncovers something traumatic."

Jack went over and he sat down next to Sydney. He had no intention of letting Vaughn do it. Vaughn went over and sat down and he waited for the therapy to begin.

Sydney let out a big sigh and she noticed Jack had grabbed her hand in his own. She smiled gratefully at him and she closed her eyes.

"All right, Sydney. Let's begin." Brezzel said, as he sat across from her.

Sydney relaxed in her seat as she began to concentrate. Slowly she began to see herself back when she fought Allison Doren in her old apartment and she gasped. After shooting her, Sydney sees herself pass out from exhaustion. She sees herself being wheeled on a gurney down a big hallway. The walls were all white and depressing looking. She is wheeled inside a room with the number 47 written on the door. After getting in there too, she sees herself being tortured by an older gentleman and Sydney whimpers softly as she sits on the couch.

Not sure if he can hear her, Jack says, "Its okay."

As she is lying on the gurney, she sees several more people come into the room. One of them is a young woman in her early 20's. She looks like Sydney. There is a name tag on her sweater. Her name is written on it. The name she sees is Alex Bristow.

Sydney wakes up gasping and crying. She walks out of the room to try and calm down. She doesn't see Jack appear beside her. He looks concerned.

"What happened?" He asked her. "After you said about seeing the girl's name tag, you woke up upset."

"Dad, is there anything you haven't told me? Yes, I saw the girl's name tag. Her name is Alex Bristow. Is she my sister?"

Jack looks shocked by this news. "I have no idea. Your mother never said anything about it either way."

"No, but I have a feeling your mother knows all about her. I think its time we got in touch with her. She should be able to answer any questions you have about this girl.” He shot her a worried look.

Sydney sniffled and sighed. "All right."

"Are you okay?" He asked her softly. His voice was full of concern.

"Yeah." She said to him.

He could tell she was lying, but he didn't press her on it.
He led her back inside.

"Is everything all right?" Brezzel asked them.

"Yes." Sydney quickly said to him as she walked back over and sat down again.

"What do you want to do, Sydney?" Brezzel asked her.

"I still have more questions about my missing time that I need answered. I want to go back in." Sydney said.

"Are you sure about this, Syd?" Vaughn asked her, worriedly.

"Yes." She said firmly to him, as she glanced at her father. "I need to know more first."

"Okay." Jack said, as he walked over and sat back down next to her. "Let's do this then."

"All right then, Sydney. Just like before, you need to relax and concentrate. Don't force them out. Let them come to the surface on their own." Brezzel. said to her.

She closed her eyes and began doing what she was told by Brezzel.

Sydney saw herself back inside room 47. She looked around and noticed that Alex was in there too. She stayed out of the other's way. Sydney was caught off guard, when she noticed an unfamiliar woman walk into the room and she took Alex out of the room. Even though Sydney was wondering who the woman was, she focused on the others who remained in the room.

Jack got up and went outside to make a phone call. He had Vaughn stay inside with Sydney, while he was gone. He dialed a phone number and he waited for someone to answer the phone.

After a few minutes, he heard, "hello?" It was Irina he had called.

"It’s me. I need to ask you something and I'd like an honest answer." Jack went on to explain the situation and he then asked her, "What do you know about a girl by the name of Alex Bristow?"

Irina was shocked. "I have no idea who she is, Jack. Why?"

Jack sighed. "I believe she may hold some kind of a clue to finding out what happened to Sydney during her missing time."

"Jack, I'm not Alex's mother. I would of told you, if I were." Irina said to him honestly.

"All right. I appreciate your honesty, Irina. Thank you." Jack said. Then, he hung up and he went back inside with Sydney. He found her still in the middle of her session. He walked over and quietly sat down across from her. He noticed right away that Vaughn had Sydney's hand inside his own, but he was quiet. Jack noticed the looks Vaughn was giving Sydney, as he watched her. He knew that Vaughn was still in love with his daughter.

Sydney sat there concentrating and hoping to get a few more of her questions answered. She could see Alex walked back into the room she was being held in and she tried to call out to her. For some reason, she was unable to and this bothered her. After a few minutes, she said to Brezzel and the others, "I see her, but for some reason I can't talk to her." She sounded frustrated.

"Its okay, Syd. What else do you see?" Vaughn asked her. Noticing Jack, he let go of Sydney's hand. He was about to move away from her, but Jack motioned for him to stay where he was. He did and he sighed, as Jack's cell phone rang.

"Damn it." He mumbled, as he stood up. He left the room and stood right outside to answer it. "Hello?"

"Jack, it’s me." Lauren said to him. "Marshall ran a background check on the girl that Sydney saw and we now know who her father is." She sighed tiredly, as she said, "You’re her father. We're still trying to find out who her mother is and Weiss was able to locate Alex." She went on to tell him where Alex was.

With a serious look, he said, "Thank you. Let me know the moment you find out anything else." Then, he hung up and he went back inside.

Sydney's eyes opened and she shot Vaughn a strange look. She was relieved to see Jack come over to her and she asked, "Lauren find out anything about Alex?"

Jack told her what Lauren had told him and she sighed. She wasn't too surprised, when Jack told her that he was Alex's father. He also told her that Alex has been located.

"That's great!" Sydney said, rising to her feet all of the sudden. "Let's go see her. I need answers that she may have." She sounded worried and she was also a little tired.

Jack noted that she sounded a little upset too, which is why he came over to her and he said, "Calm down. We'll go talk to her, but I want you to get some rest first."

She wasn't too happy to hear Jack say this, but she reluctantly agreed.

Kaya led her to a bedroom, where she could lay down for awhile.

Sydney walked into the room and she lay down in the bed. She fell right to sleep. She slept for several hours, while Jack and Vaughn discussed their next move.

Sydney woke up several hours later. She got out of bed and left the room. She found Vaughn and Jack standing outside talking. Neither of them heard her walk over to them, until she greeted them.

Vaughn managed a polite smile, but he said nothing to her.

Sydney turned toward her father and asked, "So when do we leave?" She sounded anxious to get going.

"Soon." Jack said.

Just then, they heard a helicopter approaching. It landed not far from where they were. Two men and a young woman got out and they started to walk toward them. Sydney gasped in shock when she saw the woman. It was Alex.

Sydney walked over to Alex. "Hi,” She said to her.

Alex shot a glare at Jack, as she responded in Russian. She sounded scared and angry.

Sydney looked surprised as she responded also in Russian. Then, she added, "Can you help me?"

Alex shook her head and turned around. She walked back toward the helicopter and climbed into it. She sat there in silence.

Sydney let out a frustrated sigh, as she walked back over to Jack. "She said that she only saw me for a few minutes, while I was in Room 47. She doesn't feel that she can help put the pieces together for me." She paused before adding, "She did say that she would only talk to me, but she does know who you are." Sydney walked back inside.

The men walked back toward the helicopter and climbed back into it. They sat down and the helicopter lifted off.

Vaughn went to check on Sydney. He looked worried.

Vaughn walked over to Sydney, who was even more frustrated than before. She saw Vaughn walking over to her and she faked a smile. Vaughn knew right away that her smile wasn't real, so as soon as he got to her he enveloped her in his arms. "i know this is really frustrating for you. I wish it wasn't. Syd, we will help you get your answers. I promise. Just hang in there, until then, ok?"

"I'm trying." She whispered into his ear and let out a frustrated sigh. Before either of them could pull away, their lips met and their embrace tightened. For the next few minutes, they remained like this.

It wasn't until they heard footsteps approaching that they separated.

"I just got off the phone with Lauren." Jack said, as he approached them. He ignored the fact that their faces were red from embarrassment. "I'm afraid we're going to have to keep up with the dream therapy in order to get more answers." He noticed the disappointed look on Sydney's face and his usual stone-like expression softened just a little bit. "I'm sorry, Sweetheart, but we don't have a choice."

Attempting to cover up her disappointment, she quickly responded with, "it's all right, Dad. I can handle another session. Let's go do it." Then she went to find Brezzel.

Looking worried, Jack and Vaughn exchanged a look before going inside, too. They both watched as Sydney sat down and waited for Brezzel to come sit down too.

As soon as he did, the session began.

All Jack and Vaughn could do was sit down next to Sydney and be there in case she needed them.

Author's quick note-This is the last chapter. I hope everyone likes it. This is definitely one of my favorites.

Sydney sighed as she tried desperately to relax. She glanced at her father just before she closed her eyes.

He smiled reassuringly and gave her hand a squeeze.

Sydney let out a soft sigh as she began to remember more.........

Sydney opened her eyes in alarm and she abruptly stood up. Once again, she was in room 47, but Alex was no longer there. She did see a man not too far from her and she called out to him, trying to get his attention.

He ignored her as he walked toward the door. He didn't seem to surprised to see her up and around. He shot her a small grin as he opened the door.

She leaped at him, as a familiar woman walked into the room. She closed the door and looked right at Sydney. Smiling wickedly, she said, "hello, Sydney."

"I should of known you were part of this." Sydney said in a panic. "My missing time was due to you, wasn't it? You work for the Covenant, don't you?"

"Very good. You managed to figure out my secret." As the person stepped out of the shadows, we can plainly see its none other than Lauren Reed. She came over and started to explain. "I was hired by the Covenant to marry Michael and keep him from finding you. After you were found, I was ordered to keep the two of you apart."

"Why did they want me? I don't get it." Sydney looked confused. It was then, that she put her hand onto the scar on her side.

Lauren nodded. "Yes. As part of Rambaldi's prophecy, he had the ability to come again. This time, his child would be born to carry on his work. That child would also be yours."

"He would be reborn through his child." Sydney repeated in shock. "What else do I need to know, Lauren?"

Sydney started to cry softly, as she said, "They stole my eggs and use them to create this child." She looked at Lauren to see if she would confirm it.

Lauren sighed and nodded. "Alex was never working with us. You deserve to know this. She came every once in awhile with her mother, after they heard you were being held captive. A raid in Sark's lab will prevent the prophecy from coming true at all."

Sydney was too tired to ask Lauren why she was admitting to all of this. She just nodded and thanked her.

The looks on both Jack's and Vaughn's faces was pure shock. They couldn't believe it had been Lauren all that time. Jack called Dixon on his cell phone and he reported everything.

Dixon informed him that the hand was indeed Lazarey's and that he was very much alive. He also told him that Weiss had formed a team already to go and destroy Sark's lab.

That mission was a success and Sydney, Jack, and Vaughn were later flown home. Vaughn opted to take Sydney home and he wound up spending the night.

Lauren was taken into custody, but was given a lighter sentence, since she helped capture Sark.

Sydney and Vaughn did get back together and work together too.

From that day on, things settled in to a new type of normalcy and everyone quickly adjusted to it.

THE END

Stalker in the CIA 2

Chapter 1

Sydney Bristow rushed inside the building and nearly bumped into another agent. After a quick apology, she made a beeline for her desk and she sat down in her chair. With a huge sigh, she began to think back to what had happened that morning.....

(Flashback beginning)

Sydney heard a car horn sounding at four in the morning. She got up and looked out her window, but she didn't see anyone outside. She went back to bed, but she couldn't fall back to sleep, so she got up. She went downstairs and and she lay down on her living room couch. Her phone rang, just as she turned the television on. She groaned angrily, as she answered it.

"Hi, Sydney." A familiar voice said. "Remember me?"

Sydney was too shocked to answer him. She quickly hung up the phone. After a few minutes, she picked up the phone again and she dialed her father's number.

"Hello?" Jack Bristow sleepily said into his phone.

"Dad, it’s me." Sydney's voice sounded scared.

"Are you all right? You sound frightened." He asked her. He sounded worried.

Sydney told him what had happened. She bit her lip to keep from crying, as she told him about the phone call

Jack sighed frustratingly and he said, "We'll talk to Dixon and hopefully, you won't have to come face to face with him. After you hang up with me, unplug your phone. I'll talk to you later at work."

"Okay, Dad, “Sydney said, with a shaky sigh.

"Hang in there, Sweetheart." Jack said, reassuringly.

Sydney couldn't answer. She was crying softly. After a few seconds, she hung up the phone and she got ready for work.
(End of flashback)

"Sydney, are you all right?" Jack asked, as he placed a hand on her shoulder.

Chapter 2

She jumped, clearly startled as she looked up at him. She looked a little embarrassed as she said, "My mind was wandering a little, but yes, I'm fine."

"Good morning, “Lauren Reed said, as she walked past them. She noticed the frightened look in Sydney's eyes. "Are you all right, Sydney?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Lauren." Sydney quickly said. She tried as best she could to hide her dislike for Lauren. She stood up and remarked to Jack, "time for morning briefing, Dad. Dixon's expecting us."

"Come on." He said and they quickly walked to the briefing room. Jack sat down in the chair next to his daughter's. He was still very worried about her.

"All right," Marcus Dixon said. "From what I was able to find out, Joshua Dennison was released from prison three days ago." He gave a deep sigh before continuing. "Syd, will you tell me exactly what was said, when Dennison called you this morning please?"

Sydney tried as best she could to hold herself together, as she gave told Dixon about the phone conversation. After she was done, she asked, "any idea where he might be? I'd really like to avoid a repeat of last time. Her voice had been wavering slightly.

I already have Vaughn and Weiss out searching several possible places he might be. I'll keep you posted." Dixon said to her. "I do think that until he's found, you should check into a hotel for a few days."

"That's a good idea." Jack said. "She really shouldn't be alone. This maniac is capable of anything."

"I agree," Dixon said. He kept his focus on Jack as he said, "you'll go with her and keep Dennison away from her. I'll call as soon as we have Dennison back in custody."

Sydney sighed and asked, "When does Kim get back from vacation?"

"Not for another three weeks." Dixon said. "She took Tori to see her Aunt in Harrisburg." He let out a deep sigh. "Until Dennison is found, Syd, you are on nonactive duty."

Chapter 3

Neither Jack nor Sydney responded. They both just turned and left. They walked to Jack's car and they both got in.

Sydney was about to turn off her cell phone, when it rang. A little startled by its ring, she answered it. "Hello?"

"Hi, Syd. It’s me." Josh said. "I just had to call you and tell you I know what's going on. I also wanted to tell you that despite how it ended last year, you’re still the girl for me. He began to laugh, as he waited for her response.

Still feeling worn out from the night before, she hung up on him and put her head back on the head rest. She bit her lip to keep from crying.

"That was him, wasn't it?" Jack asked. He was very worried about her. "Did he give any clue as to where he was calling from?"

"No, “Sydney answered. Her voice could barely be heard. After sitting quietly for a few minutes, she began to cry softly.

Jack heard his daughter crying and he glanced in her direction. He parked the car in the hotel parking lot and he shut off the engine. Then, he pulled Sydney into his arms. "We'll catch him, Sweetheart." He said softly to her, trying to calm her down.

Sydney calmed down after a few minutes and she got out of the car. So did Jack and he led her inside. They walked up to the front desk and Jack said to the Desk Clerk, "My daughter and I need a room for a few days. Do you have any available?"

"Yes, we do, sir. I just need your names." The Clerk said.

"Jordan and Beverly Hamilton." Sydney quickly said. She glanced around the lobby for Joshua and was relieved, when she didn't see him.

After they finished checking in, Jack and Sydney went upstairs to their rooms to relax. The clerk gave them adjoining rooms, so Jack could keep an eye on Sydney.

Sydney lay down on her bed and she slept for several hours.

Jack went into Sydney's room long enough to shut her cell phone off and unplug her bed room phone too. He left the bed room door open and he went back to his room.

Meanwhile, Vaughn and Weiss were having their own problems locating Joshua. They had checked twelve different locations, but they have not yet found him

This is really beginning to piss me off." Vaughn grumbled. "I mean, where the hell could he be?"

"I don't know." Weiss said. "We'll find him, Vaughn. You just got to have faith." He continued to drive toward the next possible place.

Chapter 4

Sydney woke up several hours later. She sat up in bed and groaned as she stretched. She looked over at the door connecting her room to her father's. She noticed that it was closed. "Dad must have gone to get us something to eat." She murmured to herself, as she got out of bed. She heard the phone ringing in Jack's room, so she walked over to the door and opened it. Leaving the door open, she walked over to the table next to Jack's bed and she answered the phone. "Hello?" She said.

"I'm on my way back now." It was Jack. "They haven't found Dennison yet. Are you all right?" He sounded worried. He was zigzagging through traffic as he sped back toward the hotel.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm just looking forward to all of this being over soon." Sydney said and sighed. "I just hate hiding out like this. I want my life back to normal."

Jack let out a frustrated sigh. "All right. I'll let Dixon know that you'll be coming back in." He said. "We'll head back to work as soon as we finish eating dinner."

"Okay." Sydney said.

Then they both hung up.

Two hours later, everyone met up in the briefing room at JTF Headquarters.

We've still had no luck in finding Dennison." Vaughn said. "We are going to keep looking." He sounded angry.

"Okay. I have to more teams of agents out looking, too." Dixon said.

"The sooner you find this son of a pregnant dog, the better." Sydney said, without even looking up from the file she was reading. She looked up long enough to add, "I want this to be over with-once and for all."

Chapter 5

"Sydney, get out here now!" Joshua Dennison called out to her. He was standing right outside of the briefing room.

After getting a reassuring look from Jack, Sydney slowly walked out of the room and over to Joshua. "What do you want?"

"I came here looking for you, Syd." He said. "You can't deny the mutual attraction between us." He seemed amused by the disgusted expression on Sydney's face.

Facing him with her hands on her hips, she said, "The only thing I feel for you is disgust. Your whole mutual attraction theory is nothing short of false." She turned and started to walk away from him, but he went after her.

He caught up with her and he shoved her to the ground. He didn't say anything more. He just signaled for two of his men to come in.

They came in, shortly after Sydney got up from the floor. They were each carrying a gun. Sydney had an angry expression on her face.

A few hours later, a lot of things happened. Joshua's troops took charge of the building. Dixon, Jack, Vaughn, and several others were placed inside a cell downstairs. Sydney wasn't put in there with them. She was taken to a different room, where she was put through extensive shock therapy and questioning. She told them nothing. After awhile, they tossed her into a dark and empty room and they left her there.

Chapter 6

Jack, Dixon, and Vaughn lured the guards into the cell, after they managed to escape, and they easily took them into custody. Then, Vaughn went looking for Josh. Jack went in search of Sydney at the same time.

After ten minutes of searching, Vaughn found him in Dixon's office. He was sitting in the desk chair. Vaughn did a flying leap over the desk and he wrestled Joshua to the floor. After delivering several punches to Joshua's face, he finally knocked him unconscious. Then, he dumped him in a separate cell and locked the door.

Jack went from room to room, searching for Sydney. He finally found her unconscious on the floor and he quickly rushed over to check on her.

Sydney slowly opened her eyes and she looked up at him. "Dad?" She said. She was still very groggy. "Did anyone take Dennison into custody?"

"Yes. Vaughn took care of him." Jack said. "It's finally over for good." He helped her to her feet and he hugged her.

She hugged him back and burst into tears. She was so relieved that her nightmare was finally over.

Jack walked her to medical services. Then, they both met with Dixon.

Joshua Dennison was sentenced to ten years in prison for violating parole and attempting to take over a government installation. He was never heard from again.

Sydney Bristow quickly walked into headquarters and she went right to her desk. She sat in her chair and she opened a case file, that had just been placed on her desk.

"Hi, Sydney." Joshua Dennison called out to her. He was sitting at his own desk, doing paperwork, too.

"Hi, " Sydney said, not really paying attention to him. She looked at her watch to check the time. Then, she got up and went into the Briefing Room. She wasn't really comfortable with the way Josh stared at her, but she didn't want to make a big deal about it. So she let it go. She quietly took a seat and she waited for the briefing to start.

"Syd, are you all right?" Dixon asked, as soon as he saw how uncomfortable she looked. "Your not usually this quiet."

Sydney looked up at him and answered, "I'm fine." She noticed the looks everyone else was giving her, but she ignored them. After the briefing was over, the others quickly left the room. Sydney stayed in there and did her paperwork.

"Syd, you okay? Your morning briefing is over." Josh said. He was standing in the doorway.

Sydney sighed and said, "Josh, why don't you go get your work done and leave me alone to do mine?" She was getting angry.

"Sure, Syd. No problem." He said and he walked away.

It was then, that she noticed that the door was wide open. Damn it." She mumbled to herself. Then, she went back to work.
Time: 9:30 P.M.
Place: China

Sydney and Michael Vaughn were sent to retrieve a computer disk, which had a list of all U.S. CIA Agents on it. They had to get it from K Directorate's newest headquarters. Sydney was a little distracted as she got ready to go inside the building.

Vaughn noticed this and he asked, "Is everything all right? You seem distracted."

"Yeah, I'm fine." Sydney quickly said. She knew that her father was listening from Base Ops, and she didn't want to worry him.

As Sydney got out of the van, Vaughn said to her, "Be careful, Syd. And good luck."

"I will." She told him. She closed the van door and she started to walk up to the building. "Base Ops, this is Mointaineer. I'm going in."

"Copy that, Mountaineer." Jack said over his headset. "Be careful."

"I will, Dad." Sydney said, as she went inside. She began to look around as soon as she got inside.

Marshall, who was also on a headset, said, "Okay, Mountaineer. Go to the right and its the first door on the left."

"Copy that." Sydney said. She followed his directions exactly. She didn't notice, when she tripped a silent alarm.

Marshall caught it right away and he quickly said, "Mountaineer, an alarm has been triggered. Guards are on their way to your location."

"Sydney, abort and get out of there!" Jack ordered her.

A team of four guards, came after Sydney, but was able to fight them all off.

Vaughn heard the fighting sounds and he scrambled out of the van. He rushed inside and he found her. "Sydney! You all right?"

Sydney groaned and said, "yeah." She turned and headed toward the room.

"Syd, your dad said to abort!" Vaughn said, as he followed her.

Sydney didn't answer him. She kept going toward the room.

Vaughn went with her, just in case their were any more guards. He knew Jack would have something to say about all of this, when they get back to L.A.

He was right.

Jack met them at the airport, when they got back. As soon as he spotted Sydney coming through the gate, he walked right up to her. He asked, "What happened back there? I told you to abort."

Sydney said to him, "I saw a second chance to finish the mission and I took it." She sighed tiredly.

"What's wrong? You haven't been yourself for a few weeks now." Jack asked, in a concerned voice. He could tell she was close to tears, so he took her suitcase from her and he led her to his car. As soon as they got into his car, he asked, "What is it?"

"I've been getting harrassed by someone at work. He's been sending me flowers and stuff." She said, as she pulled a few notes out of her pocket. "Lately, his notes have gotten really creepy." She handed them to him and burst into tears.

He hugged her and asked, "Who is he?"

"Joshua Dennison. Its the guy I told off in the Conference Room yesterday." She said, sniffling. "I figured you had already heard about it."

"Yeah, I did. I just didn't know why, til now." Have you talked to anyone else about this? Besides me, I mean." Jack said.

Sydney shook her head.

Jack drove her home. Then, he called Dixon from her apartment. He told him the enite thing.

"I was wondering why she didn't seem like herself lately. All right. I'll take care of it." Dixon said. Then, he hung up.

As soon as Jack hung up the phone, it rang again. Jack answered it. "Hello?"

"May I speak to Sydney please? Its kind of important." It was Josh.

"She's gone to bed. May I take a message?" Jack asked him.

"No thanks. I'll just see her tomorrow at work." Josh said. He knew it was Jack. "Good night." Then, he hung up.

So did Jack.

Sydney came from the kitchen. She was carrying two cups of coffee. Shw handed one to Jack and she asked, "Was it him on the phone?" She sat down next to him on the couch.

"yeah. I told him that you went to bed. He said that he would just see you tomorrow at work." Jack said, as he set his cup down.

Sydney yawned as she started to relax. "Did you talk to Dixon?"

Jack nodded and said, "He said that he would take care of it." He put his arm around his daughter. "How are you doing? You okay?"

"Yeah. It just feels good to be able to talk to someone about this." She said to him.

"Why didn't you come to me sooner?"He asked her calmly. "Sweetheart, I want to help you anyway I can."

"I know you do, Dad." Sydney said. She closed her eyes soon after and fell asleep.

When Jack noticed this, he got a blanket from the closet and he covered her with it. Then, he left, making sure he locked the door, before he did.

The next morning, Sydney was late getting to work. She quietly slipped into a seat in morning briefing, and couldn't help but notice the worried look Jack gave her. She shot him a smile to let him know she was all right.

Dixon filled her in on what she had missed so far.

After the briefing was over, everyone else left the room, except for Jack and Sydney. He noticed that she didn't get up from her seat and he came over to her. "You okay?" He asked her.

"Yeah, I'm fine." She said. "My alarm didn't go off this morning."

"Having one of those kind of days, huh?" He asked her.

"Yeah." She glanced out at her desk and noticed that another bouquet of flowers were there and she sighed.

Jack saw them too. "Damn it! Dixon told him to stop."

Sydney got up from her chair and she said, "I think its time that I talked to him again."

"Bring him to Interrogation Room 3. I'm going to be in there this time." Jack said.

"okay." She said and she left the room. She went to get Josh. She found him at his desk.

Josh looked up and said, "Hi, Sydney. What's up?" He stood up.

"I need to talk to you, Josh. Come with me please." Sydney said.

He followed her to the interrogation room and they went inside together. He was a little surprised to see Jack sitting at the table. He quickly turned to Sydney and asked, "What the hell is going on?"

"We just wanted to talk to you privately." Jack said to him.

Sydney shoved Josh into a chair and she asked, "Why have you been harrassing me?"

"Because I like you. Why? Is that so wrong?" Josh asked her.

Sydney yanked him out of the chair and said angrily, "You've been warned several times that I do not feel the same way toward you so knock it off! No more flowers, candy, or love notes! none of it! You give me one more thing and i swear I will kill you myself!" She slammed him against a wall and added, "you got that? Huh?"

He shoved her off and he left the room. He didn't say a word. He had heard enough.

Sydney and Jack exchanged a knowing look. Then, they both went back to work.

Later that evening, Sydney came home to discover that someone had broken into her apartment. She quickly went through and made a list of missing posessions. Then, she called Jack.

He booked her into a hotel and he told her that he'd be over in the morning. He also told her to get some rest.

Sydney went to the hotel, but she didn't get much sleep that night. Josh kept calling her to laugh about what he did.

She was an hour late meeting Jack at her place the next morning. She found his car already sitting in the driveway. He was sitting in it. Sydney sighed as she pulled her car into the driveway next to her dad's and shut off the engine. "Sorry, Dad." She said, as she got out of the car. "I had a rough night. Josh kept calling me to laugh at what he did."

After hearing that, Jack took Sydney inside so she could lay down for awhile. Jack quietly cleaned the place up for her, while she slept. He also made sure the phones were unplugged and her cellphone was turned off. Jack kept his turned on in case of an emergency.

By the time she woke up, it was seven in the evening. Jack was sitting in the living room watching the news. He didn't even notice Sydney was up, til she sat down next to him on the couch and asked, "how long did I sleep for?"

He looked over at her and said, "You must of been pretty tired, Sweetheart. You slept all day." He noticed that she looked a little pale. "Are you feeling all right?"

Sydney shook her head. Then, she laid her head down on Jack's shoulder and reclosed her eyes.

He slipped his arm around her and within minutes, they both fell asleep.

The next morning, Jack called both himself and Sydney in sick. Dixon understood and he told them to get well soon.

Sydney was still asleep on the couch, as he talked on the phone. "Dad?" She said, waking up. She looked around, but didn't see him.

Jack was in the kitchen getting her some breakfast. When it was ready, he brought it in to her. "Are you feeling any better?" He asked, as he set the tray down on her lap. She had already sat up.

"A little. Did you talk to Dixon?" She asked him, as she began to eat.

"I called in for today, but he gave us the week off. He felt we both needed it." Jack said and he smiled at her.

She grinned back and said, "Yeah, I know. Its the first time our vacations were at the same time."

He looked at her seriously and said, "I don't want to catch you on that phone for three days. All right?"

"All right, Dad. The phones stay off." She said, trying not to smile again.

After she finished eating, she went to take a shower and change her clothes. When she came back, she heard the doorbell ring. She checked to see who it was and gasped.

It was Josh. He was carrying three white roses and a letter in his hands. He was smiling, as he waited for her to answer the door.

Sydney backed away from the door. "Oh my God. Dad, he's here!" She called out.

Josh rang the bell again. He called out to her, "come on, Syd! I know your in there! Let me in, or I'll break it down!" He was extremely angry.

"Get out of here!" Sydney shouted at him. "Now!" She was glad the door was locked.

"Fine! But I will be back, Sydney! Its going to take more than a few threats to get rid of me." He said. He left a few minutes later.

Sydney went over to the couch and she sat down. She was shaking badly. She was angry with herself, for being so scared. She was sitting there crying, when Jack came back.

He had gone to the store, while Sydney was showering. As soon as he saw how scared she was, he dropped the bags he was carrying, and he rushed over to her. "He was here, wasn't he?" Jack asked her. He hugged her tightly, noticing how bad she was shaking from fear.

After she fell asleep, Jack called Dixon and asked that Josh be taken into custody for stalking Sydney. Dixon agreed and said he would handle it. Then, Dixon asked how Sydney was doing. Jack told him.

Vaughn, Weiss, and Lauren were sent to get Josh. He had locked himself in his house. He had pictures of Sydney taped all over the house. He also kept playing CDs that he had stolen, when he broke into Sydney's apartment.

"Agent Dennison, open the door!" Lauren yelled to him from the other side of the door.

Weiss tried. "Come on, Josh! Open the door!"

Josh refused. He ran upstairs and he climbed out his bedroom window. He wasn't counting on Vaughn being at the bottom, when he climbed down the rope ladder.

When Sydney woke up three hours later, Jack was relieved to tell her that Josh was arrested and put in jail.

Sydney was both shocked and relieved to be told this. After a few minutes, she asked, "Its finally over?" Then, she dissolved into tears.

Jack took her into his arms and he said, "Its finally over, Sydney. Josh is in jail, where he belongs." He continued to hold his daughter protectively in his arms, as she cried.
